Another myspace relict to see the light of day. Words as relevant today as they were on January 3, 2008:
Home is where your heart is, right? It’s where your family is… it’s where you head after a long day of work…
But home is also where you accumulate years and years worth of clothing, years and years worth of bills and bank statements, years and years worth of gifts that you can’t bear to get rid of, years and years worth of Christmas cards, birthday cards, letters, bathroom products, old towels, kids art projects, boxes of computer disks and electronics related paraphernalia, empty boxes…
I suggest, if you want your home and your mind to be clean, you let go… recycle those boxes (why am I hanging on to them again?) - clean out those filing cabinets (I’ve got insurance documents from the 1990′s) - make some money and sell those old clothes (I’ve been dragging around those tan corduroy overall – shorts for far too long) – pitch those old hair and bath products (who’d want them touching their skin at this point?) – High grade the art projects (will I really look back fondly on that piece of white construction paper that’s been sliced into a million pieces?) – That box of cords and wires and 3.5 inch floppies – they’ve outlived their useful existence. And that’s just Claudia’s closet.
Next step – to see what we’ve got living up in the attic. OK, maybe I’ll hang on to the Christmas decorations, but what else will I find? I bet I could just go up there and start whole sale pitching entire boxes of mystery crap – bet I wouldn’t even miss a thing. I apparently don’t need it now.
Anyone out there with me? We could have one big happy money making garage sale home and mind de-cluttering event… and whatever doesn’t sell – we’ll donate… Be gone old stuff! Make room for new old stuff!
I tell you, it feels soooo good to have removed that clutter from the closet – of course, now it’s cluttering up the garage – but at least it’s out of my home!

I, too, have been feeling the urge to purge. Thanks for the inspiration! I just stumbled across you site. I’ll be checking back in often!
Welcome Shiloe! Glad I could be of service… (fyi – that photo – that’s my basement… I have some work to do too…)
We’ve got boxes still packed from our move to AK (in 2004)…but we’ve been living in someone else’s house, with their stuff, for the much of the time between. However, I am sure, that once the “real” house is built, there will be things that come out of those boxes & head straight to the Goodwill.
Any plans for the ‘real’ place yet?
Timeline: Well, first finish the current structure. Get that paid down, then start the next phase. Plans for the actual house? So many ideas! Nothing concrete. We’re still debating (that would be the nice word) about self-design & bringing in a professional.
